Consultation with the Team

The Initial Consultation is an opportunity to talk directly and personally with each member of the surgical team. This will give the Team an opportunity to learn about you and your symptoms and confirm the diagnosis of spasmodic dysphonia. It will also give you a chance to ask questions about the benefits and risks of surgery to help you make an informed decision about surgery.

Canadian patients will need a referral to Dr. Honey from their laryngologist.

International patients (USA, UK and abroad) will need to contact the Clinic for information on the location and costs of the Initial Consultation. Appointments need to be booked well in advance to coordinate visits with Dr. Honey, the DBS team and arrange for your 3-Tesla MRI.

Please contact our research nurse by email.

About Stop SD

Dr. Honey was the first to prove that spasmodic dysphonia (SD) could be dramatically improved with deep brain stimulation (DBS). With a grant from the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Association, he will publish the first prospective, double-blind, randomized, trial to confirm that DBS can improve both the voice and the quality of life of patients with SD. We are now offering this life changing surgery for patients with SD.
